“We are here for the long run”: EGE and Verdion present initial concept for Javelin Park at local information event

On 26 October 2021, development agency Energie- und Gewerbepark Elmpt mbH (EGE) and Verdion presented the initial concept for a business park on the site of the former military airfield in Niederkrüchten-Elmpt to around 150 citizens. County Commissioner Dr. Andreas Coenen, Mayor Karl-Heinz Wassong and representatives from EGE and Verdion talked about the current planning status, showed sample projects and answered questions.

Verdion is committed to being a long-term partner for Niederkrüchten. The development concept for the 860-hectare site envisages the construction of an industrial park covering around 150 hectares over the next ten to fifteen years. The plans for Javelin Park comprise modern industrial, logistics and production spaces for small- to large-sized companies. “We believe that the former airbase is an ideal location for a modern industrial park. Verdion is investing in Elmpt for the long term and is going to manage Javelin Park even after completion. We are here for the long run,” said André Banschus, Verdion’s Executive Director at the event.

Verdion is planning to continue its dialogue with the local community at Niederkrüchten. This will include further information events as well as the upcoming official planning procedures. As the site is also a symbol of German-British friendship, Verdion is particularly looking forward to ideas on how the history of the RAF airbase can be incorporated into the development of the new business park.

Marc Haverkamp, Verdion’s project manager for Javelin Park, is available to answer any questions at [email protected].
